Sundays @ AscentKid’s

We’re so glad to have you as our guest and hope that this would be a place where you and your kids would come to know and grow in a relationship with God.  We know that first time visits can be overwhelming at times, so we’ve prepared this handy guide to help you through what goes on week in and week out here at our church from start to finish.

START HERE
So you’ve made it all the way to Lake Forest Park!  You’ve parked your car, you’ve walked around and hopefully been greeted or ushered into the church by someone outside.  For directions and service times, please check out Directions & Contact Info.

You’re going to want to come early if you want a good parking spot, which is good because we also start checking in kids early so we can start on time.  Parents can start checking in kids 15 minutes before service time and, as you do, we encourage you to do a few things that will help us make the most of our time together:

  1. Leave toys, cards, video games, or any other distracting items in the car before checking in
  2. Attend to any restroom needs before checking in so they won’t need to go during service
  3. Check-in at the fellowship hall to be greeted and also get directed to where your children need to go for worship

We know it can be hard to get the kids all showered and dressed up to come to church, but we also ask that you plan ahead and get here no later than ten minutes after service so that we can honor each other’s time and be considerate towards other groups and our volunteers who do so much every week to prepare for your kids!

CHECKING-IN
As you enter the main building you’ll find kiosks and a “help desk.”  If this is your first time proceed to the “help desk” and you’ll be asked to fill in some general contact information for emergency and follow-up purposes.  Your children will receive either a badge or a wristband for identification purposes until you register them as members.  You’ll receive a matching claim ticket or security number that you’ll need in order for you to pick your kids up after worship.  For more information on membership and check-in procedures, please refer to Check-In Policy under our F.A.Q. page.

WORSHIP AND SMALL GROUPS
We’ve structured our ministry to attend to four different age groups so that we can connect with your kids and communicate to them at their age level:

Toddlers (30 months-3 years old)
Pre/Kinder (4-5 years old)
Lower Elementary (1st-3rd Grade)
Upper Elementary (4th-6th Grade)

After checking in you’ll be ushered to your child’s worship area to be introduced to a leader and make your way to your own service.

People are usually accustomed to the term “Bible Study”, but at our church we believe that true learning and transformation happens through relationships developed through small groups. These small groups are designed so that kids can connect with each other and also connect with a consistent leader who strives to model and teach God’s truth to them in relative and engaging ways.

All of our activities and messages are tweaked just enough to suit each age group’s level of understanding and learning.

DONE ALREADY?
After your service, we invite you to come pick up your kids and have a brief word with their leaders just to see how worship went.  Make sure to have your claim ticket or security number so we know that your child is leaving with an authorized parent or guardian.

Toddlers and Preschoolers will most likely be snacking on something, so we invite you to come sit and snack with us in the Toddler and Preschool rooms after service.  Elementary students usually can’t wait to run outside and play, but we’ll have them waiting for you where you started off the day.

We hope to make your first time as smooth as possible.  It’s a bit crazy here on Sundays, but that’s part of the fun.  We’re all gathered to do one thing, and that’s to celebrate God.  We hope that you will be with us next week, and if you should continue to attend our church within the next month someone will be following up with you just to see if you have any questions about what we’re doing as a ministry!
